Hi all its just a quick question really, what driving licenses do you need to drive these trucks? Am i going to have to sit my HGV exam or is it like buses and you can drive them for personal use if over 30 years old?

Thanks

Seb.

Rules are quite simple

Vehicle over 3.5tonnes laden weight require a vocational licence to drive them

However............

If that vehicle was manufactured prior to 1960 and used unladen and with or without an unladen trailer and not in conjunction with a trade or business then it can be driven on a CATB licence

If the vehicle is post 1960 then regardless you must have a minimum of a CATC licence (maybe C+E if you intend to tow a trailer

GMC falls into the first category, REO probably in second category
